Be Active! - Why Not Utopia?
Success is the sole earthly judge of right and wrong.
Adolph Hitler
The Let's Change the World Fund
Early July 2003 a fellow from Laurel Maryland sent me $42.00, $12.00 for my
book and $30.00 because somewhere on the site I suggest sending
money to strangers who might do things worth doing. I called it taking a
chance on love. I did not expect anyone to send me anything because I have nothing going
except this site.
I am also sensitive to anything that might be construed as leadership.
We are in this together. If you do not want responsibility, I can
do nothing as easily as you. Irresponsibility provides motivation for hierarchical
systems. We follow orders and think what happens is not our fault. It is
time to change. If not, we deserve what we assuredly will get.
My first reaction to the $30.00 was send it back. Thinking it over, I decided
I, too, have a responsibility. Internet numbers are amazing. 100,000 is no big deal, but
if 100,000 individuals send in $10.00, we could create a volunteer Internet Service Provider
for everyone who cares to join. In my neck of the woods three universities
fall within a five mile radius and Yale is 20 miles away. In addition every middle
and high school has students who run rings around teachers.
An internet service provider is one idea. Perhaps you have another.
We must attack the problem of
internet communication. How do 100,000 people decide anything? Don't
feel bound by the $10.00 suggestion. Here, as everywhere, what you do is
up to you. Send your contribution to Change the World Fund,
c/o Ed Kunin, PO Box 1555, Fairfield, Ct., 06825.
I do not like rules, but I want you to know how I intend to
treat contributions should any come down the pike.
1)If you include your e-mail address, I will add it to a mailing list I
hope to get started.
2)If the number of contributions is small I will use your name and the
amount of your contribution to show the total in the fund. If you do not
want your name used, please specify you wish to remain anonymous.
3)If, and this is unlikely, the number of contributors gets too large, I
will post only the total dollar amount in the fund.
Presently the fund contains $130.00. One hundred from me and $30.00 from
the fellow in Laurel Maryland. I don't use his name because
he didn't give permission. At that time there were no rules. Do not be shy
about your name. Our founding fathers had no problem
standing up to be counted. Too bad, if fear does a number on us. Think
about how we decide what to do. If you can help, please do.
